Through the Online Academy a number of web-based modules and other technology innovations for moving validated educational interventions from research to practice were developed. These resources were designed to enhance teacher education programs in offering online instruction in the areas of Reading, Technology and Positive Behavioral Support. While the Online Academy is no longer operating, the resources developed by the Online Academy continue to be available through the eLearning Design Lab. The Online Academy served as a significant catalyst for the establishment of the e-Learning Design Lab (elearndesign.org). Recent versions of the Online Academy and other professional development modules can be found in the eLearning Design Lab's resource section. The eLearning Design Lab web site also includes research projects and papers on the design and implementation of elearning. The Online Academy, at the University of Kansas, was funded by the Office of Special Education Programs in the U.S. Department of Education to support preservice teacher education programs nationwide.
